About me
I have been in the advertising and design industry for over 30 years and began my design career in 1976 when I left
South to study Industrial Design at the Ealing College of Higher Education in London. During this time I developed an
interest in Graphic Design and Photography. I returned to South Africa after two and a half years, having been offered a
position as an assistant Art Director with J. Walter Thompson back in Cape Town. I remained with them for over five
years, conceptualising and art directing campaigns for print media, creating packaging design and below-the-line
material.
I have always had an interest in photography and over the years, finding a passion for seascape photography, having
seen an exhibition of J M William Turner's landscapes and seascapes and being intrigued by his interpretation of light
and the movement of water. Having spent over 30 years as a designer, I began photographing long exposure seascapes,
mainly at sunrise and sunset - trying to capture the flowing quality of water and time.
I am situated in Sedgefield, in the Garden Route in South Africa.

About me
Artist’s Statement
Usually,
photography
is
a
medium
that
freezes
a
moment
in
time
–
but
in
my
work
I
try
to
extend
that
moment
so
that
the
flow
of
time
can
be
seen.
My
technique
imparts
a
painterly
quality
to
seascape
photography
and
offers
a
range
of
absorbing, moody images capturing the fleeting image of water and light in motion.
